Abstract
It is pointed out that the diversity and rapid growth of the volume of scientific literature have made it more difficult for individuals in the sci-tech community to stay current. The authors present an innovative approach to accessing that literature: the library information workstation. The information workstation integrates diverse information sources, remote and local, commercial and home-grown. From a single terminal, patrons can access Illinois´ statewide online catalog; article databases such as Current Contents, Medline, and Applied Science and Technology Index; and files of local interest such as the titles and call numbers of journals received in the university´s several sci-tech libraries. The workstation in the Library of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology is presented as an example
