Abstract
Poyang lake is the biggest wetland of China. There are thousands of migrant birds come here for hibernation. The natural ecosystem of the region has great relationship with these birds´ activities. We attempt to detect the moving birds from the video by frame difference method. Because of the movement of the camera during shooting, the background motion has to be estimated and compensated. A modified block-matching algorithm is used to estimate the background motion on the differential image for accuracy. An experiment was made using the proposed method to the video acquired in Poyang Lake.
