  • Abstract
We evaluate the performance of a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) hybrid interference canceller (HIC) detector in a Rayleigh-faded environment. Both power control (PCL) and channel estimation (CHE) imperfections were considered. The canceller is shown to work well in moderate PCL error conditions. In fading, the hybrid canceller performance compares favorably to the successive interference canceller. The capacity gain of this canceller is estimated to be in the order of 1-5 times relative to the conventional correlator. Also, despite the severe interference arising from a high capacity environment, a simple moving-average channel estimator within the canceller was shown to be reasonably robust for typical cases of interest
