Abstract
Commercial satellite communications will play a major role in the success of future wars. The author discusses Navy and LANTCOM prototyping activities in integrating “big pipe” commercial SATCOM capabilities into critical Joint C4I tactical support roles. Further, he addresses coupling existing Joint and Navy technology demonstration programs and exercise opportunities as a logical approach to defining Joint C4I battle management needs, institutionalizing prototyping and integration efforts, and measuring capability attainment
