Abstract
We derive analytic BER lower bounds of MLSE equalizers both with the channel estimator proposed by Chen and Paulraj (see IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference, vol.2, p.710-14, 1997) and with several other conventional MMSE channel estimators for the parametric Rayleigh-fading channels. In the derivation, we consider the channel mismatch caused by the additive Gaussian noise and the finite-length channel truncation error. A handy-to-use simplified BER lower bound is also presented. Simulation results that illustrate the analytic BER lower bounds of MLSE equalizers with several channel estimators in the GSM system are presented and compared to the real BER performance and the simplified BER lower bounds
