Abstract
The TdeV tokamak, directly connected to the power grid, has been upgraded with the addition of new power supplies (PS), a new RF system, and an increase of the toroidal field. The total installed power is 110 MVA. This required an unacceptable increase in reactive power consumption from the grid and a voltage drop to levels below minimal operating voltage of the converters. This problem is solved by adding a var compensator. The chosen configuration is 14 banks of mechanically switched tuned filters each having 3.4 MVAR. This paper will present the characteristics and the configuration of TdeV power supplies, as well as an actual operating scenario
