  • Abstract
    Perpendicular magnetic recording will dominate over the storage technology in the near future. However, a high areal density will be achieved only with introducing additional technologies to perpendicular recording. Among the candidates, patterned media would be the most promising because it is highly consistent with conventional magnetic recording. Design and recording properties were studied for 1 Tbit/in2 patterned media using a micromagnetic simulation.
