Abstract
In this work, the effect of dielectric constant on the bandwidth of rectangular microstrip antenna (RMSA) operating at center frequency of 2 GHz is considered. The design of a rectangular microstrip antenna is made with different dielectric materials, the choice of material is based on materials that provide good antenna performance with reduced surface wave loss. Alumina 99.5%, Quartz (Fused) and Roger RT5880 are the materials for the proposed design to achieve a broader bandwidth. The design that gives voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR)≤ 2 is considered the best for the proposed antenna. The antennas are simulated using Sonnet lite software.
