  • Abstract
We have historically seen Network-attached Storage (NAS) replacing traditional server-attached storage in most cases. The concept of developing the grid-attached storage microkernel is offloading most of server functionality in Linux and Globus. A grid-attached storage appliance has a processor, a microkernel, and file I/O protocols. The grid-attached storage appliances can be deployed across the Grid platform providing FTP services to end users and grid-enabled applications. The technique of parallel streams is implemented in GridFTP by dividing the data to be transferred into N portions and transferring each portion with a separate TCP connection.
