Abstract
In this paper, the design of a W-band dielectric lens antenna to be used for 2D imaging is presented. The capability of the lens to focus the EM field in the horizontal plane is analyzed. Near-field simulations and measurements are conducted for this purpose. Finally, a 2D Scatterer Mapping Technique based on a Mono-Frequency Mono-Focusing operator is used to evaluate the effect of the lenses when imaging some straightforward scenarios. A notable improvement is observed on the scatter mapping results when the lens antennas are used.
