Abstract
This paper investigates the best way for representing wireless sensor networks using various topologies of ZigBee. The use of coordination with such networks was investigated together with coordinator load. The investigation has been achieved via the use of different scenarios in the OPNET Modeler simulator. The simulation study investigates the use of coordination with star routing, mesh routing and tree routing to check the suitability of the topology with the coordination. The simulation has been carried out for 1 hour to investigate the effect of routing topologies on the delay, coordinator load, and the throughput have been collected. The results show that the delay for mesh routing is lower than tree and star routing whereas the throughput for tree routing was higher than that of star and mesh routing. The results also show that the load per coordinator and end to end delay for star routing was higher than tree and mesh routing.
