Abstract
A new approach that applies finite element modeling for cogging torque analysis of pancake type spindle motors with three-dimensional flux distribution. The investigated motor is a single-phase which contains two layers of stator yoke linked by a hollow shaft. There is a 30 degree difference in mechanical angle between the two layers. compared. The results show that the proposed method achieves a good accuracy in both the qualitative and quantitative analyses.
