Abstract
Summary form only given. Explores the spontaneous emission process in two dimensional photonic crystals formed in GaAs or Si. The studied systems comprise a triangular array of air cylinders within the host material. The inverse structure, comprising an array of GaAs or Si cylinders located in air, is also analysed. A defect is introduced by omitting a single cylinder.
