  • Abstract
In ontology mapping, the literatures had discussed the ability of mapping tools to produce ontology even though it is subjected to the mapping issues. This paper reports the experimental work on the evaluation of the correctness and completeness of mapping tools in the construction of cultural heritage ontology through ontology mapping. The domain of cultural heritage knowledge has less tolerance to knowledge loss as preservation of knowledge is important. The selected mapping tools in this work are COMA++ and S-Match. The evaluation is based on three sets of tests for each tool. The comparative analysis showed that COMA++ produced more correct but less complete mappings compared to S-Match. Although modification is performed through three tests in the experiments, knowledge loss still occurred during the mapping process. These findings cautioned the use of fully automated mapping in the cultural heritage knowledge.
