  • Abstract
The performance of conventional microwave filters is degraded when resonators with finite dissipation are used. This paper presents a new filter synthesis technique which allows for the realization of lossy filters with ideal lossless transmission and reflection responses, offset by a constant amount. In contrast to the existing loss-compensation approaches of classical predistortion and reflection-mode networks, this technique does not require non-reciprocal devices. Example circuit-based designs are given as well as microstrip prototypes which give excellent performance.
