  • Abstract
With the deadline for wireless E911 looming, and the drive for location enhanced services increasing, a method for locating phones in a IS-95 CDMA network is needed. To address the phase II FCC requirement of locating a wireless E911 caller within a radius of 125 meters, 67 percent of the time, one method employing the following techniques: time of arrival (TOA), time difference of arrival (TDOA), and an amplitude difference based angle of arrival (AD-AOA) from a network perspective is examined. The paper discusses an initial investigation of the proposed method via simulation and results obtained. The investigation methodology is as follows: define a searcher for simulation and sensitivity analysis, simulate performance of the receiver from captured field data, and simulate a system for location prediction performance using readily available channel models
