Abstract
The philosophy in the Munich area is to offer transport chains all over the integrated public transport network with optimal transfer conditions, that means short transfer ways and times, and using the same ticket, independent of the operator. Because it is difficult to find out the best way in a dense network of different transport systems an optimal information system is necessary. Here, the authors describe how the the core of the Munich public transport information system is the Public Transport Data Centre which links the different control centres. Its main functions are: to provide real-time information; to provide control of public transport transfers; to improve the information for operators and passengers about incidents in the public transport network; and to supply other systems with dynamic public transport information
