  • Abstract
Polymethylpenten (PMP) is a promising material for medical applications including blood contact. Since long-term blood compatibility of PMP surface is low, an additional interlayer has to be introduced to improve this issue. In the presented work endothelial cells (EC) were grown on PMP foils coated with a thin Ti-O film in order to improve blood compatibility of this polymer. Therefore Triggerless Pulsed Vacuum Cathodic Arc Plasma deposition technique (PVCAPD) was applied to deposit Ti-O coatings. First experiments could show that ECs can adhere and grow on the coated surface, while preserving an anti-thrombogenic state.
