  • Abstract
This paper investigates the effects of mobility on the resource allocation and call blocking in mobility network architectures. On the basis of a stochastic analytical framework, we determine the probability distribution of the number of radio links used within the cell as a function of all the mobility related parameters (viz. average mobile speed, mean cell radius, mean call holding time, direction of motion, call drop rate, distribution of call location within a cell and soft handoff behaviour). This allows the network planner to determine the exact number of channel signal processing (CSP) elements to be allocated for each cell. Simulations for a CDMA mobility network have been conducted to verify the generality of our analytical framework
