Abstract
This article describes a system to seek and acquire acoustic and phonetic knowledge to be used in acoustico-phonetic decoding. The main item of interest with this system is that it takes into account information springing from various sources (acoustic, phonetic, human, etc.). The different bases that the system produces in the course of the successive phases of analysis are : -an acoustic and phonetic data-base (APDB), - an acoustic and phonetic fact-base (APFB) that results from observing and interpreting APDB. - an acoustic and phonetic knowledge-base (APKB) that results from conceptualizing. The way each one of these is constructed makes for a separate item of presentation. Finally, the methods resorted to are illustraded through a number of examples.
