Abstract
An actor operating in today\´s telecom market is exposed to rapid changes of the business situation -market conditions, technology trends, players\´ picture, regulations. Successful operations depend on robust business models and the assessment of their prospective. Thus, designing business models and analysing their profitability are steadily becoming more important. Getting the results of these activities timely and with sufficient accuracy is easier if the problems are approached in a structured and routine way. Consequently, a framework that structures business modelling and assessment of (novel) business ideas is a helpful tool for the actors operating in the telecom market. This paper describes the BIZTEKON framework, which can be efficiently used to model and analyse any business situation that may emerge. A business situation may alter due to the presence of new roles, competitors, strategic alliances, technologies, products, (target) customers\´ groups/countries, etc. Theoretical basis of the BIZTEKON is built upon its elements -the terminology, the concepts, and the procedure. These are explained in detail here. Practical applicability of the framework is demonstrated on an example of the "CDMA450-based broadband-access" business case.
