  • Abstract
    In order to avoid conventional topology´s drawbacks, a new topology that the diode rectifier is replaced by the thyristor rectifier and the control strategy of the active voltage quality regulator with variable dc-bus voltage are proposed in this paper. This paper analyzes the circuit topology and control strategy in detail. Then losses and efficiency of the both circuit topologies are compared in order to show the virtue of the proposed circuit and its control method. Through comparative analysis, the proposed circuit topology is verified to be better than conventional topology. At last, the validity and effectiveness of the proposed control strategy are verified by the laboratory experimental results. At the same source voltage and load condition, the efficiency increases from 89% to 96% on a 2 kVA prototype.
