Abstract
The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) as an electronics based custom device, is used to protect sensitive loads from the voltage sags in the power distribution system. With the rapid technology advancement in industrial control processes, it is experiencing more demanding requirements on how to compensate voltage sags with minimum power consummation. That´s why in this paper, energy cost optimal compensation methods together with their algorithms for different levels voltage sags have been studied and summarized. The paper first analyzes the structure of a DVR. Based on this stage, new algorithms of compensation are discussed and evaluated. Simulation results in Matlab/Simulink indicated that, with these optimal algorithms of compensation, the DVR is able to compensate different levels voltage sags with much less power consummation.
