Abstract
In this paper, a new approach to indoor positioning is introduced based on angle of transmission that can be estimated at a mobile node communicating with a fixed node equipped with an antenna array and transmitting a radiofrequency (RF) signature signal. With additional distance estimation at the mobile node based on RF signal strength of the signature signal, the proposed method is in essence the positioning of the mobile node to a point on the polar coordinate system. From computer simulation in additive white Gaussian noise and flat fading channels, the performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated.
