Abstract
A line voltage referenced sigma delta modulation (LVRSDM) scheme is proposed for resonant link inverters. The formulation of the decoding table and choice of freewheeling vector are discussed in detail. A comparative study of three different discrete pulse modulation schemes based on the DC link current performance is presented. Typical waveforms from the laboratory-sized experimental setup incorporating LVRSDM are given. The proposed scheme is found to be superior than other commonly used discrete pulse modulation schemes. The study reveals that LVRSDM scheme reduces losses and provides improved performance. This scheme is well suited for all resonant link type inverters
