  • Abstract
One often needs to identify the internal structure of a medium based on measurements from its surface. In many the medium is with layered structure and the measurements are performed by means of reflection wave exploration on the surface. The mathematic model for such a problem is that the measurement signal, i.e., the reflected waves, is a convolution of the exploration wave and the sequence of reflectivity at the interface positions between every two layers. An essentially new approach for this problem is presented in this paper based on blind channel identification theory. According to our method, reflection measurements are performed twice at every exploration point so that a two-channel blind identification model can be constructed for internal structure identification at every such point. If the two exploration waves are different from each other to some extent, they can be estimated based on blind channel identification algorithm, and then the reflectivity sequence can be estimated. An example of seismic prospecting is given in this paper, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our method
