Abstract
The performance of a modified code acquisition scheme, based on two-stage sequential probability ratio test (SPRT), is studied. The first stage (i.e., testing stage) is used to test the sum of M (M>1) local PN codes with different phases. This stage can reject M code phases once for each non-synchronisation declaration, and thus reduce the code acquisition (search) time. Also, the hardware or computation load can be similar to the conventional single-stage acquisition scheme
