Abstract
A single-server queueing model with gated service and vacations is considered. The length of the vacation period depends on the number of successive vacation completion epochs at which the buffer of the system was empty. Distribution of the number of customers in the system at vacation completion epochs and at arbitrary time is computed as well as some important performance measures including the mean sojourn time.
