Research on historical memories and space forms´ dual construction

The dual construction, which includes historical memories and space forms, is involved in a design of renewing traditional blocks. Space forms are carriers of historical memories, and the expression of the former is meanwhile oriented from building ways and materials. Exampled by block located at Xuzhou´s former municipal Party committee in old urban area and combined with Kenneth Frampton´s Tectonics theory, the paper, in the perspective of historical memories, establishes perceived order based on time axis from Republic of China to the Cultural Revolution. In the space form perspective, the paper builds construction order by inner relationship between construction, material and space form. With the help of perceived order and construction order, converting from idea to reality cautiously and explicating infectious space form under a specific history, thus we can realize the dual construction which combines the historical memories and space forms.
