Abstract
This paper describes a methodology for identification and pole characterization of resonance modes in the acoustic backscatter from a small submerged elastic target. The estimator follows from resonance scattering theory (RST) which provides a mathematical formalism for expressing target resonance in the form of singularities. Estimation is performed directly on the acoustic backscatter where pole characterization of the lowest order flexural and dilational leaky Lamb modes is obtained from an ensemble of multi-aspect backscattered responses
