Abstract
Thin-wire models for the FVTD algorithm are validated using various monopole configurations above a finite ground plane. The thin-wire model is derived from the original Holland-Simpson formulation, extended by Edelvik for the finite-element method, and requires a parameter which dictates the region around each wire wherein coupling between the field variables and the current and voltage variables on the thin wire occurs. It is shown how S11 and S21 parameters can be derived from current and voltage variables on the wire, and these were successfully reproduced for the monopole configurations tested. Both straight and bent monopoles are investigated.
