  • Abstract
Modeling of the weighted mean temperature (Tm) over the West Pacific region to accurately estimate the precipitable water vapor (PWV) derived from ground-based Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver is carried out in this study. Tm is an important parameter in determining the accuracy of PWV measurement. To develop a Tm model, Radiosonde (RS) data from 15 sites that covers the range 20°N to 20°S latitude and 95°E to 156°E longitude for the year of 2011 is employed. Then, a linear regression analysis between Tm and surface temperature (Ts) was established. The Tm model will be compared with global Tm model for validation. This model is demonstrated higher of about 4.5% compared to global Tm model. From the analysis of results, found that any increase in the weighted mean temperature of 1 Kelvin will increase the PWV value by about 0.13 mm.
