Abstract
During the past few years, trenchless technologies have been gaining popularity in the area of existing buried utilities and structures due to economic and environmental factors. In addition, those technologies have been becoming more and more familiar to engineers and practitioners in the field as more projects are constructed. There is a summary of the more useful five trenchless technologies in this article: pipe jacking, pipe ramming, auger and guided boring and horizontal directional drilling. And an analysis of selecting the most suitable construction method for engineering geology and hydro geological conditions will be presented. Based on the theory, the project of the fiber optic cable pipe crossing Zhejiang-Jiangxi railway of Fengcheng city, Jiangxi Province is designed. The guided boring trenchless technology has been applied to the project. Practice shows that the project has achieved good social and economic benefits.
