  • Abstract
The authors analyze the performance of multipath diversity reception of a noncoherent hybrid direct sequence-slow frequency hopping (DS-SFH) spread spectrum multiple access (SSMA) communication system which is used in indoor environments characterized by a Rician multipath fading channel model. By applying a Gaussian process assumption for the sum of the multiple access interference and noise, an efficient and accurate approximation method to the conditional error probability of the system is developed for equal gain combining diversity, selection combining diversity and hybrid diversity. Numerical results show that hybrid diversity is a good option for noncoherent hybrid DS-SFH communication systems over Rician multipath fading channels
