Abstract
To avoid some of the problems that arise in the pattern recognition of waveforms using conventional feature extractors, we derive a feature extraction technique based on autoregressive (AR) modelling. The technique generates a feature vector whose components are the coefficients of the "best" AR fit to the data. Levinson\´s algorithm and Akaike\´s Information Criterion (AIC) are used to help furnish the best coefficients and best AR order respectively.
