  • Abstract
This paper describes a planar array antenna developed for use with a 3D (i.e. height detection) long range mobile search radar. The radiating aperture consists of 576 individual L-band dipole radiators, grouped together in 18 identical horizontal linear arrays, which are spaced vertically. The antenna contains distributed transmit (TX) and receive (RX) modules, and generates one fan beam on transmit, and a number of simultaneous pencil beams on receive. Attention is given to all the major components and subsystems
