Abstract
Edge-preserving smooth filter has been widely used in tone mapping for HDR images. In this paper, we propose a new optimistic tone mapping method which combines bilateral grid filtering and multi-scale base-detail decomposition. We compare our method with four other filtering methods by computing the PSNR, MSE and timing to demonstrate the advantage of ours. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our method in the context of LDR and HDR tone mapping.
