Abstract
The origin of electrical ageing of XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) with AC field in a humid environment was investigated. Specifically, a comprehensive study of the dielectric polarization of XLPE power distribution cables, immersed in water and under AC electrical stress, was conducted using thermally stimulated discharge current (TSDC) and thermal transient current (TTC) studies. The initial results of the TSDC and TTC measurements are reported
