Abstract
This paper presents a state-of-the-art low-cost DTV decoding scheme. This novel approach consists of a combination of down-scaling and embedded compression within the MPEG decoding loop, and can save both memory and memory bandwidth. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach efficiently preserves the quality of the output low resolution image.
