Abstract
Instructors in the Colorado School of Mines´ EPICS Program have had considerable practice over the past 15 years teaching engineering students to communicate effectively using the staff meeting format in authentic contexts. EPICS students have made approximately 12 oral presentations in a variety of contexts and to a variety of audiences by the end of their sophomore year. The paper explains the philosophy behind the CSM program and presents some of the logistical and pedagogical details as well as evaluation data
