Abstract
An approach to overcoming problems involved in the averaging of surface ECGs (electrocardiograms) for the detection of late potentials is presented. The mean-square difference between the template beat and the new beat is proposed as the alignment function (AF), computed in an almost linear segment of late QRS. The main properties of the AF are examined by using some easily obtainable mathematical relationships. Experimental results are presented and a comparison with the cross-correlation method is made
