  • Abstract
In this paper we apply trellis coded modulation (TCM) to direct sequence spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA) communication systems in urban multipath fading channels. Based on the characteristics of urban multipath fading channels under DS/SS, a new way of analyzing the properties of TCM (TC-MPSK and TC-MQAM) DS/SSMA systems over such channels is proposed. Simulation results show that the performance of low rate TCM is better than that of traditional Ungerboeck´s TCM in DS/SSMA systems over urban multipath fading channels
