  • Abstract
This work presents the design and simulation of a 64 channel system able to generate bipolar high voltage (±50 V) and relatively high bipolar current pulses (±5 mA), while being able to read very small electrical signals (on the order of tens of microvolts). The system was designed in such a way that it is modular and flexible over the range of signals it must be able to deal with. The system is programmable via software from a PC, can perform long term experiments, and stores data to a hard drive for off-line result elaboration. While designed for brain computer interfacing (BCI) applications, the system was designed for versatility, and is suitable for a wide range of applications where the requirement is to send high voltage or current electrical stimuli to a given channel while reading very small signals in the other channels.
