Abstract
This paper presents a mutation-driven evolutionary algorithm applied to microwave filter synthesis. In this approach the topologies of the circuits are completely defined during the evolution process, without any knowledge of traditional design strategies. The process uses models (building blocks) and insertion rules to place moderate constraints and reduce the size of the search space. The results show that the method is capable to generate circuits that meet the specifications. The synthesis capabilities are demonstrated using bandstop filters.
