  • Abstract
    Software development organizations are trying to incorporate the concept of software product line to reduce development time and cost. The process of software product line initiation and institutionalization within an organization requires strong relationship of both technical and organizational requirements. In this paper we have identified various cognitive factors that are involved in various activities of software product line. The cognitive factors involved are divided into three categories of software product line. The identification and analysis of the cognitive factors involved in software product line will enable an organization to understand the product line process and helps them to formulate a strategy for the successful implementation of the concept.
