Abstract
In this paper, a Modified Adaptive PSO (MAPSO) algorithm is presented to solve Dynamic Economic Dispatch (DED) problem with valve-point effects and ramp-rate limits consideration taken into account. Moreover, the transmission losses are satisfied. A mutation operator is invented to prevent premature phenomena and lead the swarm search space much more effectively. The efficiency of the proposed method is validated applying it to two test systems, consisting 5 thermal units with losses and 10 thermal units by neglecting the losses. The results are compared with the results reported in the literature. It is shown that the optimum results can be obtained more economically and quickly using the proposed method in comparison with the earlier methods.
