  • Abstract
In todays portable equipment, the trend is to replace Ni-Cd batteries with the more environmentally friendly Ni-MH batteries. Several battery charger applications such as notebook computers and portable telephones already require Ni-Cd/Ni-MH compatible battery chargers. In this paper, the described charge termination method is based on the detection of the inflexion point in the battery voltage curve. This inflexion point detection method is not only “Ni-Cd/Ni-MH compatible” it also significantly increases the Ni-Cd battery lifetime when fast charging
