Abstract
This paper introduces optimum switching state selection algorithm of a 5-level cascaded multilevel inverter and a new method for calculating precise conduction losses, switching losses and THD of different inverter modulation strategies. A comparison is done among various types of carrier based pulse width modulation and space vector modulation with different modulation indices. It is shown that THD and Losses are varied inversely with modulation index.
