  • Abstract
In order to optimize the adsorption capacity of room-temperature catalytic oxidation (RCO) composite on indoor formaldehyde, two methodologies are investigated in this study with different purposes. One focuses on physical characteristics, where a series of experiments were set up to examine the impact of preparation conditions and ingredient dosages on the mechanical strength of RCO material. The other methodology is to optimize the adsorption capacity of RCO composite by testing different make-up ratio of RCO material and active carbon. Results show that the RCO material get the best mechanical strength (level 5) when the molar ratio of two main ingredients, manganese sulfate and potassium permanganate, is 3:2, and the pH in solution is about 7. Results also indicate that when the composite contains 30% of RCO material and 70% of active carbon, it appears to get the best adsorption capacity for indoor formaldehyde.
