Abstract
Two interfaces, called the data interface and the human interface, are used in image database systems to use effectively visual data such as images, graphics, documents, and drawings. The data interface is related to database capture (input) techniques. Data conversion efficiency, man-machine cooperative conversion, knowledge-based understanding, and flexible internal database model generation are emphasized. Several promising approaches towards the effective human interface are also suggested in combination with input technical level
